There must be a mistake, there's an actual starter going for the Sox.  I figured it's a day game, it's the middle of the month, it's a Wednesday.  All reasons for us to use an "opener".

Bill-806

DEVERS in his SLUMP, batting cleanup ??????? iono iono iono iono

Murph

Better than K man Chavis batting 4th Sunday against the Rays.

Sea Dog 23

I see only three consistent MLB batters there. Betts if he's not squinting, JDM if healthy and Devers.  Maybe Bogey if it's early in the game.

Great start.  Maybe they should have started a minor leaguer.  I had to laugh when Kiss of Death O'Brien talked about "if Porcello can get out of this inning...".  It's not like what he says has any meaning, but he does this sort of thing so much it drives me nuts.

Can't wait until Sale's next start when he can talk about the "immaculate inning" again.  I think it's just that especially when they're playing badly he becomes even more unbearable.

Ridiculous throwing error by Vaz puts this game on the line right here.

longgame

And now we’re in the part of the game where we give up the lead.  It seems it’s either get a small lead and give it up, or just give it up from the start like last night.

markj

There you go. BP blows yet another game. HBP moves to 3rd on a throwing error and comes home on a sac fly to tie it up. No win for Porcello.

The continued sloppy play is killing this team.  The only thing consistent about this team is its sloppy distracted play.  Once again I say the continued sloppiness of an entire team is the fault of management.  It isn't just one guy its the whole lot of them.

Schloicka

I don't blame the pen. No runs would of scored without the error.

CNN is reporting that Ortiz was targeted. More to this story than a simple robbery attempt.

elktonnick

I didn't like pinch hitting Nunez for Holt especially in the late innings because Nunez is a defensive liability especially at 2nd

I believe that is quite likely.  Having lived in Latin America for many years and having had extensive experience with Latin American police departments there is no doubt in my mind that they know who did it, who paid for it and why. The question is whether they have the political will  to bring the perps to justice.  Given Ortiz's popularity in the DR they probably do if it isn't embarrassing to either Ortiz or someone more influential.
